Dante Alighieri 2024

Portrait of Dante Alighieri created for the 2024 edition of Dante Plus, curated by Marco Miccoli of Bonobolabo. The project, now in its ninth edition, can be viewed here: https://www.danteplus.com.

The illustration is inspired by the fifth canto of Purgatorio: “sta come torre ferma, che non crolla già mai la cima per soffiar di venti” For its creation, I was inspired by Sandro Botticelli’s famous portrait of Dante and by “Dante and the Three Realms” by Domenico di Michelino, from which I took the architectural reference of the towers.

The illustration can be viewed within the Dante Plus 2024 exhibition at the Alfredo Oriani Contemporary History Library in Ravenna, from May 25 to September 29, 2024.
